Whether it be for Background work, Photographic work, Presenting and Voiceover work, Specialist Agencies or Children's
Agents, or, more recently, Locations Agents.
Since the demise of 'The Hidden Extra' website, there has been a dearth of information regarding how to get into this
faction (i.e. facing the camera) of showbusiness.
I have joined many agents and agencies over the years that I have been in the business, and paid up front, only to receive
no work, or one days work only, throughout the year; but, fortunately, have learned from these experiences.
This is the reason why (over the past two and a half years) I have searched and researched thoroughly (and continue to
do so), at no little expense to myself, the agents and agencies that spring up (mostly on the internet, but also via print
media), to check out their validity, worth and value.
Principally, of course, this was all done for my own benefit. But as I researched, I could see that there was a real need
for an information package such as this; for anyone in the business or anyone wishing to start in the business. Prior to this,
the only real information channel was 'word of mouth'; a slow process at the best of times. Now of course there are sites
on the internet which, for a fee (considerably larger than the cost of this information package), will hold your voice reels,
show reels, photos and any other pertinent details; on the premise that you may be "viewed" by a casting agent and
find work.
These sites are also included in the "SeeYouOnSet!" package - because you, and you alone, have the final say
in what you choose to do.
The pack contains everything that you need to know to get into the business or get ahead in the business. Researched and
compiled by someone who has worked in, and continues to work, in the business.
"SeeYouOnSet!" is not an 'in-praise of' manual; but a warts 'n' all prospectus of how and what to do, in order
to fulfil the role in front of the camera.
The work can often be tiring, long and laborious; but, as you can probably tell, after over ten years, I still love it.
